What is The Uhuru Collective?
A collective of Black youth and community elders (adult co-conspirators) in the US South who centre and leverage their voices to undo adultism, racism, and other issues impacting their schools and communities.
Using youth participatory action research to co-create critical, political consciousness and develop liberatory trainings and actions, the Uhuru Collective youth hold space for each other while deliberately and bravely naming the issues that most affect them.
Uhuru Collective community elders work parallel to the Uhuru Collective youth, making sure that adult spaces are worthy of youth voice and presence, co-creating opportunities for intentional community building and intergenerational organising.
